August 15, 2022

Juliana Sporrer is a PhD Student at the Max Planck UCL Centre for Computational Psychiatry and Ageing Research and is supervised by Prof. Dominik Bach and Dr. Nicolas Schuck. She is currently investigating the cognitive and neural control of threat avoidance and human escape decisions. By creating a diverse set of threat scenarios using a 3D Virtual Reality platform, she aims to elicit biologically plausible action and identify the psychological and computational principles of action-selection. Before that, she completed the Dual Masters in Brain and Mind Sciences ran by UCL, Ecole Normale Superieure, and Sorbonne University in Paris. Her academic interests lie in understanding subjective feelings such as emotions using computational models, and neuroimaging techniques. Outside of research, she is passionate about manual arts and the outdoors, especially trekking and gardening.
