Nora Turoman
Université de Genève, Laboratoire Mémoire de Travail, Cognition et Développement
I am a postdoctoral researcher, junior group leader, and Jacobs Foundation Research Fellow 2022-2024 at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
My research brings together several fields of psychology and neuroscience, including perception, attention, and memory, with the aim to better understand how human cognitive processes operate in rich, multisensory real-world environments. Using behavioural and brain measures, my team and I study how multisensory distraction affects memory over development from childhood to adulthood. We also study the sensory nature of memory content – how to measure what we are memorising, and what this content ‘looks like’, in children and in adults. I am interested in branching out into older adulthood and old age, in order to gain more of a lifespan perspective in my work.
Aside from my research pursuits, I am an avid supporter of science communication and education. Some of my current outreach projects involve educating lay audiences on how to interpret information from preprints, and creating multisensory teaching tools for children in non-classroom contexts.
