Gelgia Fetz Fernandes

Gelgia Fetz Fernandes holds a graduate degree from Zurich University where she studied Social Anthropology, Media Studies, and International Relations focusing on the Middle East. She is a trained journalist and has worked as newspaper editor, covering events and news stories national and international in scope. From 2007 to 2020, Gelgia worked as Program Officer at the Jacobs Foundation running the Klaus J. Jacobs Awards and the Foundation’s Young Scholar Programs. In 2020, she assumed a Leadership role at the Jacobs Foundation co-leading the Learning Minds Portfolio including the Klaus J. Jacobs Awards, the Jacobs Foundation Conference, the Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program, and the Coalitions for Evidence Inspired Action. In 2021, Gelgia initiated CERES (Connecting the EdTech Research Ecosystem) with the University of California, Irvine – a 10M CHF international network bringing leading scholars and designers together with emerging leaders, promising junior specialists, educators, and entrepreneurs to shape the future of educational and child-focused technology.
